The skin is one of the first things that can be noticed during an interaction with the opposite gender.  In order to achieve a youthful appearance, there are several ideas on how to take care of your skin below:

Use Sunscreen

According to research, sun protection is the single most important element for healthy skin. When clients come to dermatologists with something they don’t like about their skin, it’s most often an effect of sun damage. Sun degrades the skin’s collagen and elastin, and affects the body’s ability to create healthy new cells. So make it a resolution to never leave the house without applying sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30—even in the winter and on cloudy days. Look for a broad spectrum SPF (which means protection from all UV rays).

Sunburns and skin darkening are caused by continued exposure to the sun and its harmful UV rays.  It can lead to serious skin problems such as rashes and skin breakage, or even skin asthma.  In order to help take care of your skin, it is recommended to apply a good amount of sunscreen at the morning (before starting your day) and another one at noon (were the sun is at its peak).  SPF could be around 30 (the not so sticky ones) up to 60 (semi-sticky ones) in order to help protect the exposed skin during daytime.

Moisturize Day and Night

“The best times to moisturize are right after you get out of the shower and right before you go to bed,” explained the dermatologists. Avoid lotions with heavy fragrances and be make sure you find a moisturizer gentle enough for everyday use with zero irritation.

Dry skin can cause irritation, which may lead to acne formation and rashes.  The best way to counter dry skin is via the use of moisturizers.  Water based moisturizers are perfect for all since it won’t irritate the skin.  Application of moisturizers are recommended two to three times a day, one in the morning after shower, second during noon and the last one before going to bed.  A moisturized skin will ensure a healthier and more vivid look when compared to dry ones.

Don’t smoke

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow and makes skin paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health.

Smoking also damages collagen and elastin — the fibers that give your skin strength and elasticity. In addition, the repetitive facial expressions you make when smoking — such as pursing your lips when inhaling and squinting your eyes to keep out smoke — can contribute to wrinkles.

Smoking’s a skin damaging habit.  This is a fact that has been attested to numerous research worldwide.  In order to avoid skin damage, it is necessary to avoid smoking and avoid second hand smoke as well.  Some reasons are: (1)heat emitted by the smoke coupled with the dark colored smoke full of dirt and tar can lead to skin burns and (2)decrease in oxygen content of the skin (fire burns oxygen).
